tennisThe Downtown Tennis Center is preparing for the next Rome Tennis Circuit Tournament on Saturday, March 5 at the Downtown Tennis Center. All junior players in middle school and high school are invited to register.

Competitors will have the opportunity to play for their school in a team based competition. “We are excited to offer another level of competition by allowing players to represent their high school or middle school,” said tennis director, David Araiza.

The tournament provides local players an opportunity for extra match practice needed to be more competitive at upcoming region and state tennis tournaments. It is also beneficial for players who are looking to get more active in tennis for the upcoming season.

The tournament will begin at 10 a.m. for high school, and 1:00 pm for middle schools. The cost to participate in the tournament is $12.00, or $20.00 for participants who would like to receive a tournament t-shirt. To participate, register online at rometennisacademy.com by midnight, Thursday March 3.

The Rome Tennis Academy facilitates circuit tournaments monthly through December. The tournaments help determine junior Rome circuit rankings.  Rankings are based on performance in the Rome Tennis Academy junior tournaments and considers the best four results in singles and the best three results in doubles for the year; in addition to the player’s current standing on the ladder.

Lessons are offered Monday through Thursday at the Downtown Tennis Center. For more information about the Rome Tennis Academy circuit tournament or lessons, contact David Araiza at 706.331.0796 or visit rometennisacademy.com.
