Rome Tennis Center at Berry College is very pleased to announce the addition of two new key tennis professionals to the tennis staff:
Bobby Walker, Director of Community Tennis
Becky Opoien, Head Tennis Professional
Bobby has an abundance of experience as a former Director of Tennis at Lake Charles Racquet Club, LA and former Manager of the Rome-Floyd Tennis Center. His expertise lies in growing community tennis. “He will be invaluable as a liaison to the CVTA and building rapport with all the local community stakeholders”, says Tom Daglis, Executive Director at RTCBC.
Becky was the Recreational Programmer for City of Mesa Tennis Center in Arizona and former Director of Tennis at Seville Golf and Country Club, AZ. She brings both adult programming and junior development technology to the tennis operation. “Becky has amazing energy on the court and her passion for tennis is easily noticed!”
Both new staff members are certified as Elite Tennis Professionals by the largest tennis teaching association accredited by the USTA, the United States Professional Tennis Association, and will have a December 1, 2018 start date. “We are planning a RTCBC Tennis Open House on Saturday, December 1, to introduce Bobby and Becky to the community, offer a complimentary play day and other tennis activities, and include a Wilson Racquet Demo Day! We want to invite the entire tennis community to come out and meet Bobby and Becky!”
Rome Tennis Center at Berry College is one of the largest hardcourt tennis facilities in the country, offering 60 courts for both tournament and community play, and a key economic driver for the City of Rome and Floyd County.
